16 Tenses



1.  Present Tense
(+) S + V1 es/s + O
(-) S + do/does + not + V1+O
(?) Do/does + S+ V1+O

Examples:
1.    My brother goes to school every day.
2.    My father always read newspaper every morning.
3.    They go to Bandung every month.
4.    She watches television every night.
5.    She doesn’t works in the office every Friday.
6.    I’m not go to market every Sunday.
7.    She doesn’t eat banana every day.
8.    Do they go to campus every day?
9.    Do she sleepy in class every English lesson?
10. Do Sani change car every year?

2.  Past Tense
(+) S+V2+O
(-) S+ did not+V2+O
(?) Did+S+V2+O

Examples:
1.    My Friend invites me last week.
2.    I went to Bali yesterday.
3.    My mother eats cake last week.
4.    My brother and I went to grandmother house last month.
5.    She sick three days ago.
6.    I wrote not letter her last week.
7.    You did not watch movie four days ago.
8.    Did it rain since at five o’clock?
9.    Did you played basket ball yesterday?
10  Did you go Jakarta last month?

3.  Present Continuous Tenses
(+) S + V ing + O
(-)  S + do/does + not + V1+ O
(?) Do/Does + S + V1 + O

Examples:
1.    We are learning tenses now.
2.    Today I’m sleeping in class.
3.    She is working right now.
4.    Today I’m going to campus.
5.    I’m going to post office today.
6.    My brother and my sister are not running now.
7.    My mother not goes to market now.
8.    Are you happy today?
9.    Are we learning civic today?
10.  Are you done homework now?

4.  Past Continuous Tenses
(+) S + was/were + V ing + O
(-)  S + was/were + not + V ing + O
(?)  Was/were + S + V ing + O

Examples:
  1. Yesterday evening I was watching a film, when someone knocked on the door.
  2. This morning I was revising my lessons when my father came in.
  3. Jim and Liza were playing tennis yesterday at 11:00.
  4. I wasn't reading a book yesterday evening; I was watching a film.
  5. My mother wasn't preparing dinner; she was working on the computer.
  6. We weren't playing cards.
  7. What were you doing yesterday evening?
  8. And what was your mother doing?
  9. Where were you going, this morning at 7:30?
  10. What were Jim and Liza doing?
5.  Simple Future Tense
(+) S + shall/will + V 1 + O
(-)  S + shall/will + not + V1 + O
(?) Shall/will + S + V1+ O

Examples:
  1. I think I'll buy a new computer.
  2. I will open the door. Someone is ringing the bell.
3.      My mother will cook in the kitchen.
4.      My sister will read novel.
  1. I will not stay at home if I finish the homework.
  2. I won't visit Big Ben if I go to London.
  3. I will not singing.
  4. Will you buy a computer?
  5. Will you go to the party?
10.  Will you dance in the park?

6.  Past Future Tenses
(+) S + should/would + V1 + O
(-)  S + should/would + not + V1 + O
(?) Should/would + S + V1 + O

Examples:
1.      He would by a car the day before.
2.      You would give me this pen last Saturday.
3.      She would have breakfast before at seven.
4.      I should go to England last year.
5.      I should not go to Jakarta last month.
6.      She would not schedule before at 09.00 pm.
7.      You would not give me book yesterday.
8.      Should my father go to Bandung last year?
9.      Would he come if you invited him?
10.  You would give me this hand phone yesterday?

7.     Present Perfect Tense
(+) S + have/has + V3 + O
(-)  S + have/has + not + V3 + O
(?)  Have/has + S + V3 + O

Examples:
1. We have learned English for two years.
2. She has taught English since 1988.
3. He has a written a letter for thirty minutes.
4. I have just spoken to him.
5. I have not gone to school.
6. I have not just read my book.
7. I have not just spoken to him.
8. Have I gone to school?
9. Have my sister just read my book?
10.  Have my brother I gone to school?

8.     Past Perfect Tense
(+) S + had + V3 + O
(-)  S + had not + V3 + O
(?)  Had+S+V3+O

Examples:
1.      The train had left before I arrived.
2.      I had copied the lesson before she comes home.
3.      I had come home before me week three.
4.      I had written this lesson before he called me.
5.      I had not come home before me when three.
6.      By the end of the month, she had not lived here.
7.      When my brother arrived, I had not painted my car.
8.      Had I written a lesson before he called me?
9.      Had by the end of the month, she lived here
10.  When my brother arrived, had I painted my car?

9.     Future Continuous Tenses
(+) S + shall/will + be + V ing + O
(-)  S + shall/will + not + be + V ing + O
(?)  Shall/will + S + be + Ving + O

Examples:
1.    I shall be waiting for you in this station at four.
2.    I shall be studying at this time tomorrow.
3.    I shall be waiting for you in this airport at three o’clock tomorrow evening.
4.      He will be working at this time tomorrow.
5.      She will not going to be school together at seven o’clock tomorrow.
6.      I will not going to Prambanan Temple tomorrow.
7.      I shall not be writing a letter at seven o’clock tomorrow.
8.      Will you going to Baron beach tomorrow?
9.      Shall I be studying at this time tomorrow?
10.   Shall I be writing a letter at five o’clock tomorrow?
10.            Present Perfect Tenses
(+) S + have/has + V3 + O
(-)  S + have/has + not + V3 + O
(?) Have/has + S + V3 + O

Examples:
1.      We have learned English for two years.
2.      She has taught English since 1988.
3.      He has a written a letter for thirty minutes.
4.      I have just spoken to him.

7.      I have not learned in the 2 Mei school since 2000.

10.  Has he been to Jakarta before?

11.   Past Perfect Continuous
(+) S + had + been +V ing + O
(-) S + had + not + been + V ing + O
(?) Had + S + been + V ing + O

Examples:
1.      I had been repairing freezer when my friend came to my house.
2.      Dodi had been looking for the girl for a year before he applied her.
3.      I had been playing a football when they came.
4.      She had been cooking a vegetable when he came.
5.      When I came, his father had not been leaving for six hours.
6.      I had not been waiting for you since at seven o’clock.
7.      I had not been sleeping when they came.
8.      Had I been looking for the Surakarta for two week before we meet?
9.      When I came, had his father been leaving for six hours?
10.  Had I been cooking when they came?

12.   Future Perfect Tenses
(+) S + will/shall + have + V3 + O
(-)  S + will/shall + not + have + V3 + O
(?) Will/shall + S + have + V3 + O

Examples:
1.      The students will have come Meri will have eaten.
2.      She will have written his lesson by time he goes out.
3.      The game will finish by the time he gets three.
4.      I shall have written a letter by eight o’clock tomorrow.
5.      We shall not have played a basketball when he came.
6.      When my uncle comes tomorrow, my grandmother will not have left my house.
7.      She will not have written his lesson by time he goes out.
8.      Shall I have written a letter by eight o’clock tomorrow?
9.      Will when I comes, my uncle have left my house?
10.  Will by next week he has read this book?



13. Future Perfect Continuous
(+) S + shall/will + have + been + V ing + O
(-) S + shall + will + not + have + been + V ing + O
(?) Shall/will + S + have + been + V ing + O

Examples:
1.      I shall have been writing a letter at this time tomorrow.
2.      By next fast day I shall have been teaching here six months.
3.      Next week my father will have been teaching at SMK 2 MEI School for one year.
4.      He will have been working in the office at this time tomorrow.
5.      I would not have been swimming for 30 minutes.
6.      I would not have been living in Sragen for 3 years.
7.      She would not have been working there for 1 year.
8.      Will he have been working in the office at this time tomorrow?
9.      Will she have been working there for 1 year?
10.  Will you have been cooking for five minutes?

14.  Future Past Continuous Tenses
 (+) S + should/would + be + V ing + O
(-) S + should/would + not + be + V ing + O
(?) Should/would + S + be + V ing + O

Examples:
1.      I should be finishing this home work at this time following week.
2.      We should be going to beach the following week.
3.      He would be flag ceremony at this time the following day.
4.      She would be finishing this job at this time following moon.
5.      They would not be having examination at this time the following year.
6.      You would not be working at this time following day.
7.      They would not be driving home last week.
8.      She would not be learning music yesterday.
9.      Would you be working yesterday?
10.  Would she be learning music yesterday?

15.   Future Past Perfect Tenses
(+) S + should/would + have + V2 + O
(-) S + should/would + not + have + V2 + O
(?) Should/would + S + have + V2 + O
Examples:
1.      He would have success if he had worked here.
2.      He would have graduated if he had studied hard.
3.      She would have many if she had worked.
4.      I would have buy home if I had economical.
5.      He would not have graduated if he had studied hard.
6.      She would not have money if she had worked.
7.      He would not have success if he had worked here.
8.      Would he have success if he had worked here?
9.      Would he have graduated if he had studied hard?
10.  Would I have money if I had works?


16.   Future Past Perfect Continuous Tenses
(+) S + should/would + have + been + V ing + O
(-) S + should/would + not + have + been + V ing + O
(?) Should/would + S + have + been + V ing + O

Examples:
1.      She would have been teaching English for one year by last Friday.
2.      He would have been working this restaurant for two year by last Mei.
3.      My father has been swimming last week.
4.      She would not have been teaching Civic for one year by last week.
5.      She would not have been cooking for one year by last Friday.
6.      By last fast day he would not have been living this apartment for five years.
7.      By last July we should not have been studying this school for three year.
